Zazenkai — Half Day Sitting

  • McGowan House Zendo 381 High Street Monterey, CA 93940 USA (map)

Sunday Afternoon Half-day Zazen
with Guy Riina

A zazenkai is a mini-retreat; it's a one day, or half-day, version of sesshin, usually scheduled on a Saturday or Sunday. For those of us who have difficulty scheduling several days for sesshin, a zazenkai gives us the opportunity to sustain our personal meditation practice in a community setting. In addition to sitting zazen and walking kinhin meditation there is also tea and cookies and a short talk.

Guy Riina, Chōan Tetsugen :: Morning Hermitage, Penetrate Source, one of MBZC’s resident priests, will lead.

Please contact Guy with questions and to let him know you will be participating.

The schedule:

12:30p - 1:10p zazen
1:10p - 1:20p: kinhin
1:20p - 2:00p: zazen
2:00p - 2:10p kinhin
2:10p - 2:30p: tea/cookies : short talk
2:30p - 3:10p: zazen
3:10p - 3:20p: kinhin
3:20p - 4:00p: zazen

In-person only.

This activity is free to all. Donations are accepted. No one is turned away from Monterey Bay Zen Center for lack of funds.

You may contribute to MBZC in increments or multiples of $5 HERE.

You may contribute Dana (generosity, as a thank you for the teacher) in increments or multiples of $5 HERE.
