Introduction to Zen Buddhism

  • McGowan House Zendo 381 High Street between Franklin and Hellam Monterey, CA 93940 USA (map)

led by Guy Riina :: Choan Tetsugen

In this introductory class we will explore a concise history of Zen, some of the basic elements of Zen teachings and practice, and its relevance to our daily lives.

Zen focuses on a direct experience of this very life in each moment.

We will discuss how Zen practice offers a way to see what is it that hinders us from living fully. Zen practice lets us realize our original nature, that we already have what we need, that in awaking our buddha nature we help all beings to realize their true nature.

Questions and discussion are encouraged during the class.
