The Buddha’s story is our story. Each of us, if we have come to Zen practice, has considered the received wisdom of our culture and questioned it, looking for a more authentic and fulfilling way of life, just as the Buddha did centuries ago. In this introduction to Zen, we will look at some of the core teachings of Buddhism through the lens of the Soto Zen lineage, as well as provide zazen, (seated meditation), and kinhin (walking meditation) instruction. Through mediation, talks and discussion, we will discover how these ancient teachings are as alive today as during Buddha’s time.
